They'll still throw the big market teams a bone, but the new way of rigging seems to be making the small market teams more marketable.

That way, it can truly be a star driven league, and not just "big market" dominated.

The key is to already have a young/potential star on your team.

Then the NBA will go "They already have Wiggins, let's give em Towns/Okafor and establish Minny as a small market powerhouse"

That's the key.You can be a small market, but with enough "star power", you can still be a powerhouse/marketable.Look at Golden State...OKC...Hell, even the Spurs...they're the forefathers of modern small market powerhouse teams.

You have to have that one potential star for the NBA to take notice.A team like the Suns are fukked. They'll continue to be stuck in mediocrity because they don't have any potential stars on that team. They can only hope to strike gold with a mid round pick like Indy did with Paul George.

Say Anthony Davis got injured next year and the Pelicans miss the playoffs....With the way I see the NBA politics/blueprint/business model operating, I'd fully expect the Pelicans to get the 1st pick in the draft.

They'd wanna add to the intrigue of pairing Anthony Davis up with another potential superstar. The more "powerhouse" teams the better.I think the NBA is somewhat done with depending on the "major market" teams.

The Bulls getting Rose & Cleveland winning the lottery 4 times in 5 years(some shyt like that) lets me know the draft is bullshyt.I seriously believe the league made a deal with Bron/Cavs....The NBA wanted a super team to market...Bron had to dip on the Cavs....The NBA hooked the Cavs up with all those #1 picks, so that when Bron returned, they be a championship ready squad....or atleast laced with the talent to potentially make a run at the title once Bron got back.Bron took the deal because he knew he'd get a quick easy ring out of it(even thought that didn't go a smoothly as they planned.I think the NBA actaully believed the Heat would go on some back to back/ 3 peat shyt)

Spot on. Knicks and Lakers didn't get the top pick because they can attract free agents like Kevin Love in the summer. In the end the NBA wants all teams doing well financially, that doesn't mean winning though. The last thing the NBA wants is a team that is struggling financially and doesn't have the support of the fans (Grizzlies) and ownership (name any team that moved in the last 20 years).

Remember folks the commissioner WORKS for the owners, not the other way around. The owners want to make money and be financially stable. Some owners/teams are content on first round exits and doing that for 4-5 years and doing it all again, some only want titles.
