Grandpa Kennedy was a mobster. Ain’t no telling what he did to folks on the way to the top. Those are secrets locked away deep in that family vault. They ain’t never getting out. They admit the bootlegging part of it in whispers and 2-3 second anecdotes, but Cacs try to still water it down. Dude was bootlegging during the prohibition era 20’s, that’s when murder jumped off the porch and became more normal in America. No way in hell you “working” in that era and got out alive with a fortune without putting more than a few people to sleep. I remember in Boardwalk Empire they tried to portray him as a square looking business man who was just open to all avenues of getting money. yeah right, if that was case there wouldn’t have ever been a Kennedy dynasty, cuz Papa Joe would’ve been dead in a street somewhere circa ‘28 or something. Just connecting the dots on that one, he had to have been super ruthless to parlay that from the streets into what the family became.

I had a very short debate with an Irish guy online years ago.
Like most whites*, he was a very vocal "expert" about what Blacks should do, but when his ethnic group came up in discussions, barely a peep. You KNOW I had to fukk with him. right?
He was doing this song & dance about how there's no proof that Kennedy family were bootleggers.

If you took a snapshot at 1920...his father, P.J. Kennedy, owned liquor stores, saloons and was involved in importing/distributing alcohol.

Prohibition lasted from 1920-1933

Snapshot at 1933 you see that Joseph already laid the groundwork for a legal larger scale importing operation for alcohol when prohibition was repealed.

Hard to believe that between those prohibition years that Kennedy wasn't involved in the sale of alcohol. I don't see a family with capital, contacts, political clout and a foot in the industry already sitting it out....while others were making a fortune in the illegal economy.

They had wealth before Prohibition, but let's be real.
