Puff probably never even heard the song, and probably never heard of them. One would have to be heavily into Punk/Metal to even know who they are/were. That's especially so if you're Black and only listen to what most young Black heads typically listen to. I'm Black, and am only familiar with them as I explored Punk and metal later in life past my teenage years. Regardless when someone reaches the level of success that Puffy has reached, bands like ST aren't even a blip on the radar at that point. Besides, their mainstream relevance faded long before BIG's success.

On another note though, even if Puff would have heard it, not sure he could have done anything about it anyway. Muir and ST's history is interesting from a streets perspective.

That's the way I always took them although I don't think you'll ever find anything article wise or from an interview to verify that. But yeah, like you said, blue flag, the 13, from Venice, Latino background, I guess it's a given. Still even prior to the 13 being featured so heavily , both as a band along with their fans during their early shows, they were a problem out there.

back in the 80's when ST's first LP came out those dudes (plus their hoods) were actually a gang called the Suicidals who would fukk people up at gigs. they were mostly mexican/latino dudes. personally i think that first record is sick but the band has been embarrassing themselves for 30 years since then.

Take this with a massive grain of salt because it's been close to 30 years ago, but my older brother was a huge fan of them....met them....and the lead dude was claiming Crip, or at the very least affiliation with them. This was in the mid 80's.
