So DMC was on Drink Champs claiming Suge damn near signed them and they would've been in the car with Pac if JMJ didn't take too long to get dressed

he talks out of his ass....a lot I wouldn't take this story seriously at all

If none of that shyt happens on September 7th, going forward hip hop looks wayyy different for at least the following 5-10 yrs. Imagine if Deathrow survives intact, then you got them and all the new imprints and labels that came immediately after. Plus the resurrection of Def Jam boy it would've been something to see.

Again, publicity stunts for events ain't the same as Jordan being a global icon.
He's not really wrong though. Jordan is forever stamped, but his popularity was waning as far as being the most talked about guy. Remember, this is an era of sensationalism being the forefront, when ish that once only made tabloids was on network news. Rodman was everywhere for one reason or another, and was reaching audiences basketball would not.

yes, that's what I'm saying. He was even on the Ru Paul show during that time and kissed it/him/shim on the lips. I swear in 96 and 97, not a week went by that you couldn't turn on the tv and find something Rodman was getting into. That dude was paid $9 million that one year JUST to rebound and play defense in an era that the salary cap of most teams was around $24 million. Think about that. Compared to today's salary cap of $123 million, imagine a player being paid $48 million just to play defense and grab rebounds . Dennis roman was a huge celebrity

It's not. haha. Rodman was very popular in 1996. Once he came to Chicago, it was a wrap. He was so popular in 1996 after breaking the NBA finals record for offensive boards in a series and his public persona, he was at the mtv 1996 awards with Toni Braxton, talk shows, everywhere. That carried over into 1997 where he got his first movie with Van Damme, Wrestling ppv, 1st book, married himself in public, oprah and leno appearances. Rodman was definitely more popular than Jordan in 96 and 97. Yes, being notorious for publicity stunts does = popularity whether we like it or not. Think about it, in one year, he headlined not one but TWO WCW pay per views, multiple Monday Nitro appearances, won 2 NBA TITLES(summer of 96 and summer of 97), released a best selling book, and made millions at the box office with a shytty film hahahaha. Trust me, I was 19 going on 20 when this was going on. Rodman was everywhere. In 96, they had to take him off of a billboard because he was causing traffic problems in chicago hahaha. This was national news.
True. I was in junior high during the 2nd 3peat and Rodman jerseys were way more abundant than MJ jerseys, especially amongst the pawgs

I remember Nas took the mic and started spitting. DMC tried to ask for it back but the vibe was too strong at that point.
