2K already knew that 2k5 was gonna be their last football game b/c the NFL deal with EA was already complete, that's why they priced it that way. And that's also why, IMO, they threw every bit of greatness into it they could.

They TROLLED EA something so hard that's it's lasted for 10 years now and Madden still can't top 2k5 in terms of presentation, commentary, overall depth.

Also pricing their entire line at $20 that year opened them up to steal EA's audience, and they did. I'd never played NBA 2K series before that year and since then I've never bought an NBA Live and neither have many other people. Madden might be NBA Live status right now had EA not bought that licnse.

Yep, NFL 2K5 to EA was like Rocafella after Ether dropped. Straight shook and traumatized years after it happened.

Nah fam, it's that 2k is hell bent on monetizing every game mode within NBA 2k now.

The gameplay itself is good, the modes are horrendous in how they try and nickel and dime you.

But yeah, ur right, I didnt even buy 2K this year. Well I did buy it for like $30 on black Friday but I never opened it and sold it. And I've bought it every year the past 5-6 years.

even if 2k didn't take over, we need competition with nfl. I remember back in the day when mad nikkas thought nfl game day for ps1 was better than madden. NFL blitz was one of the most popular arcade games period, never mind football games. And of course, nfl 2k5, came through and crushed the buildings

now we're basically stuck with 1 football game, thats prob changed a total of 3-4 times in the last decade
its a damn shame the most popular sports in america only has 1 video game representing it.
