So have we just let the Spurs slide after that epic chokejob?

How did they overachieve?

The played as well as they did last season only this year they weren't devastated by injuries at the start of the playoffs.

They might come back and be just as good next season.

No one expected the spurs to be tied for the best record in the NBA with old ass Duncan, aging manu, and cast off role players. Parker was their only consistent thing people harped on

It wasn't a Choke-Job, they just lost to a better team.

its that simple

Bruh, that was a choke job.

The "better team" doesnt play like garbage the first two games

Very bad look for the Spurs. Duncan aged halfway through the series, Harden out Manuevered Manu, the D was slow on rotations, and they looked like the mentally younger team down the stretch. Extremely disappointing showing. That said, their legacy is stamped and certified. This title would've been gravy, but the loss doesn't ruin the overall meal.

This...

It's like they got tired all of a sudden. Couldnt keep up. That and the insane amount of 3 pt shots they were hitting in the playoffs quit going in.

houston.
Spurs cakewalked through the first 2 rounds and they haven't been challenged prior to the OKC matchup. They just ran into a hot team that was more hungry.

Appreciate the greatness of this 2012 Spurs teams, teams like this come once a generation

Hold up so everyone has crowned the Spurs this years champs, right? Do I have this correct?

I'm not going to up and root for any team just because my Bulls are out.

I'm just watching games now. It was hilarious how my boys thought OKC was going to just crush San Antonio though. I should have put some money up on this series. I would made some cash.

Again, they did the exact same thing the previous season, they had 61 fukking wins. They lost that post season because of injuries and they matched up badly against the Grizz. There was no logical reason that the Spurs wouldn't be a top 3 team in the conference outside of injuries to key players.

The spurs are a regular season team, they were never going to win a title relying on 3pt shooting, and role players to hit shots. They were the phoenix suns ironically relying on point guard centric offenses and outside shooting. I knew they were not going to win a title hence their expectations were that of a playoff team not a championship contender

In hindsight, Duncan should have at least 6 rings...but like J said, they're a regular season team :wow:

I don't know about 6, but they had some playoff heart break.

2004 - .4 shot. The pistons spurs would of been a great series, i think the 04 pistons still win and the spurs pay them back next year.

2006 - Manu's foul on dirk. Shaq Duncan in the finals with wade and manu in their primes would of been great. Riley and Pop going against eachother.

2008 - The missed call on the brent barry 3 in game 4 vs the lakers swung the series. Would of been tied 2-2 going back to LA and anything can happen. Spurs and Celtics in 08 would of been a fine series.

2009- present - not really conenders older duncan relying to much on 3pt shooting and role players. not built for the ring

Tell that to everyone else that was crowning them during their undefeated run. I remember even going to my barbershop before the WCF started and damn near everyone were talking like the Spurs were unbeatable

You just said nobody was expecting them to finish tied with the top seed. Now you're saying they're just a regular season team?

Fine if you want to say they were a playoff team and not a championship team but that still doesn't mean they over achieved. It's not like they upset a bunch of team on their way to the conference finals.

Also generally of a team finishes in the top 3 in their conference they're considered contenders. They may not be favorites, but they're still contenders.

Sorry meant playoff team.

Did any of us ever think the 05-10 suns had a serious chance of winning the title when they were top 3 in the west year in and year out and made deep playoff runs. We knew their flaws would be exposed eventually.

That's because the Suns were also a mediocre defensive team. their two best players were known as much for not playing D as they were for their offensive prowess.

The Spurs this season were a good offensive and defensive team. The only questions about the spurs were their lack of size and keeping their big 3 healthy.
