It’s funny how people think they know what’s going on. Nobody really knows man. Like everybody get built in excuses no matter what they sell now. Maybe it’s time to stop worrying about sales since people ain’t selling no more. How the hell you “selling” a hundred or less when all people have to do is open the phone and listen to your shyt? This sales crap is pathetic now. H.E.R. is a good artists, that’s all that matters to me

She ain’t a plant, the music just ain’t resonating with people. She been signed for over a decade since she was a teenager. Everybody knows she’s talented but the music just ain’t grabbing people and the label didn’t really do shyt to promote it either
This is literally the story of Alicia Keys. She was sitting on shelves long before we heard her. Shopped to a ton of producers and song writers.

Both of them are more talented as performers than anything else. Everyone has a lane. Her isn't going anywhere because of album sales. How many people in her field can match her performance?

Yeah not even 10%. Let's stop worrying about the wrong things.

what's so great about her performances? the guitar is more of a star than she is when she's performing. when i see her on stage, i just see someone going through the motions of where she has to be on the stage and what she has to sing. i never really feel like she gave a great show...she just played instruments and sang. there's a difference.

As fans of course sales don’t matter. But for a label it does. She has to make money for the label because if she ain’t then she gone get shelved. That money needs to come in some way or we won’t be hearing from her in a while

Alicia was had a label deal with So So Def/Columbia when she was 15/16 years old. She needed development because clearly she didn't know who she was as an artist. She was signed to So So Def and first heard on the Men In Black soundtrack, which also debuted Destiny's Child. She didn't find her niche until she started writing and producing her music with Krucial Keys.

Ironically, H.E.R. is either signed to or managed by Alicia Keys.

Kelahni did like 80k summer did like 130K. I'm not sure if that's tik tok rap

Her did the same numbers as queen naija

Not necessarily "tik tok rap" but "Third Wave Feminism, promiscuity is liberation" R&B.

That "just might be a hoe" song got SOOO much burn on social media. Songs like "Hit Different" by SZA or "p*ssy Fairy" by Jhene Aiko, they really resonate with this generation of women.

It seems they're less concerned with songs that don't feature that kind of content. In spirit it's very similar to how people have been trained to only welcome Hip-Hop that's violent and about flossing on people.

Ella Mai doing fine without that. SZA just had an acoustic smash hit that isn’t about sex. This is perhaps one of the best times ever to be a black female artist. Nothing to do with thot music.

I’d argue it’s more to do with her not having white fans. White girls fukk with SZA, Summer Walker, Jhene Aiko, Ella Mai, etc. All these chicks have heavy social media presence, personality, and relationships. HER doesn’t have any of that. She reminds me of EP-era Tinashe. Can’t connect with people for whatever reason. Too mysterious. It worked during the SoundCloud era when she was building buzz but it’s not translating to larger audiences.

I don't know about this statement.

I don't think it's fake mysterious. Aaliyah did it for years to the point people started rumors of her having a lazy eye.

Judging by the comments, her's career is basically tinashe 2.0
Nah don’t disrespect HER like that she actually has multiple legit hits, Tinashe had to get Schoolboy on a track to get a hit, and has gone od with selling sex and still ain’t pop she’s the epitome of sex doesn’t always sell, and just because your light skin your not automatically a star.

tinashe is actually talented and has the it factor, she was mismanaged and now it's hard for her to find a lane and climb up.

imo tinashe was probably one of the last female r&b singers with GOAT potential. she had almost rihanna level beauty at her peak, she could write, a legit dancer, great singing voice and artistry. it's fukked up that the industry failed her so badly.
Lol @ her having the “it” factors and the industry failing her...simping knows no rationale
