Moving from Philly to NY, I didnt think would be a big cultural difference, but goddamn
Im staying in Jamaica, Queens, but I want to live farther north soon, maybe Flushing or Elmhurst.
- NY'ers aint soft. I aint seen no violence, no fights, not even a gun, but I can tell niccas aint suckas.
- Nikkas think my Philly accent is "country"
- So many cultures and diversity. Seems like whenever I see a brother, and say "wassup", breh responds in a crazy ass accent, either Jamaican/ African/ French/ some shyt i dont comprehend...
I cant hold a convo with them Jamaican niccas, breh.
- That E train is a journey
- Shyt is segragated as hell. I aint seen no white people at all in Jamaica, only black and Spanish. Flushing seems to be all Asian. Jackson Heights is Middle Eastern. Corona/ Elmhurst is Latin. All the cacs is in Astoria and LIC (expensive as hell).
- The ladies
- Seems like people not from Queens hate coming here. I told Brooklyn and Harlem people that I live in Queens and they do the![]()
I wouldn't be surprised at the bolded. I met a girl from Philly and definitely thought she was from a bit further south than that.
Not a knock or anything, but most of the people I've met from south or west of the Tri-State Area sound southern to my ears, with the accent gradually getting heavier the further south you go. Probably says as much about black NY'ers and our accent as it does about everyone else
