I know they are based on true stories but that makes it worse. Can't take no more of these movies about black people that rather live and be treated like cattle than die fighting for respect.

Thats the issue we have in current society. We (black folks) love to see revisionist history about slavery and rather not show the true realities of it. We will praise Django written by a white man because it plays to our sensibilities that we would kill all whities that disrespected us. Believe or not most of us living in 1841 will have done the same thing as dude in 12 years a slave. We won't have our 2013/14 mentalities, in fact most of us would have done worse and not fought at all.

this is something worthy of a movie, because he was actually born into slavery, when he describes being separated from his mother

The fact the teacher required me to read this book in night school, but not in my actually High School, woke me up
and it was ironic that I got more education from their then I did in actual school, and reading that book changed my life

Great post. I didn't ever think about it like that. I just watched 12 years a slave a few days ago, shyt might as well be classified as a horror film. The harsh conditions of slavery would break almost everyone(and we aren't even talking about all the illnesses and diseases going around), not to mention the lack of education. I mean, that's the whole thing about slavery, you're powerless, there is no freedom unless you get really lucky. 12 years was such a well crafted movie and then my mind is blown again thinking about how IT ACTUALLY fukkING HAPPENED

Why project bullshyt? How could I LOVE them? I reluctantly watched those TWO FILMS just to stay in-the-know at how Cacs are operating. I paid $0 to watch them too so WTF are u saying, I "love" them.
Maybe b/c the MAIN characters in those two films are BLACK MEN (like myself) is ONE of the reasons that I may have been more apt to watch those. Add the fact that they are somewhat "adventurous" and you have your fukking answer, genius.
I do not like to see ANY Black-Inferiority in ANY movie dikkwad. However, seeing a NEGRO inside of a house with Cacs OR a Morbidly obese wolf of a woman on my screen for 2+ hours is NOT my idea of a PLEASANT WATCH.

And you saw in 12 years a slave Solomon was intelligent and could not be controlled like other people, dude was more intelligent than the fukking slave masters. It's truly incredible that ANYONE could've survived an existence like that, let alone prosper and succeed.
