We knew all of this at least 3 years ago. And there's a business reason why mayweather promo is a dummy company and why he contracts GBP for their promo services.


The promo company has to provide security, judges,ref,gloves, fight insurance, ambulance, police security, etc etc etc. It a huge liability. GBP has these things in order, it makes no sensefor mayweather Promo to go thru all of that a just to promote ONE fighter.

So Floyd's business model of complete independence, and farming out the liabilities to GBP and an extremely discounted rate because GBP benefits from the association greatly. Their fighters get paid millions to fight Floyd, their fighters are on the undercard. Floyd automatically has a stable of fighters To make huge money fights with.

Anybody saying he's a glorified GB fighter doesn't know what their talking about, Floyd is the only mainstream fighter, ever that has maintained 100 % control over who he fights, and he heaven decides what his opponent earns. He has his Own deal with the PPV company, his own deal with MGM grand. His business model is ideal

I agree that his situation is ideal but as a fighter with only a few fights left he should be making the transition to owning a full promo company. His notoriety is at its peak and would be able to recruit better fighters than goldenboy.

haymon is not in control. he's the dude that has the muscle in the boxing world to get things done for floyd. He makes the deals happen for floyd and is paid handsomely for that. I'm sure he's the brains behind the operation but its all in cooperation with what floyd wants to accomplish.

I'm sure he wants too but lets not ignore the politics in Boxing right now. theres 2 factions, GPB & TR. and they control every fighter not named floyd that matters. you got GB fighters fighting only GB fighters and the same with TR. So yeah, floyd can start a real promo company but who does he have that the public is familiar with? he's trying to introduce fighters from his gym on his undercards and nobody is popping off yet.

its not as simple as just putting up the money and doing the work, you have to have fighters and opponents that the public cares about and right now arum and oscar own all of them. Its remored that since Schaefer left GB that he's working with floyd on a company but truthfully winning in boxing promo if your not GB or TR is like winning in politics if your not repub or dem

boxing promo aint about popularity of the owner. its a duopoly right now and the 2 companies in control have put some shrewd policy in place to keep any one else from becoming a player. its damn near gang related and that involves everything from the HBOs and the Showtimes, to the Tecates and caronas and everything else involving the boxing biz.

Mayweather promo is an entity to funnel money through, and thats the smart thing to with the landscape of the biz. well see what happens though floyd recently cut ties with GBP

Yea the reason they don't talk anymore is because Floyd is too lazy/scared to make his own promotions. 50 saw how much money he was missing out on and made the promotion for floyd but Floyd was like when it was time to buy in.

Floyd would rather spend 3mil on that new car he has than 1mil on a real promotions company and make double the earnings each fight plus earnings off all the fighter he would promote for
