People on this board can't understand why rappers they don't like are popular, so they label them "plants" and it's just lazy, stupid thinking.
The reality is, we live in a world where niche entertainment rules. TV shows, rappers, YouTubers, etc. all find a niche audience these days, thanks to the Internet. There are on people on YouTube who you've never heard of and just seem AWFUL but they have a real audience of people who love them and they make a living making fukking YouTube videos. And no, it's not fake, and they aren't "Plants," just because you don't like it.
It's the same thing with rappers. This is the world we live in. Wake up and look around. It's about growing a community of loyal fans. Look at Mac Mlller, for Christ's sakes. A guy like G-Easy can get big numbers from his big base, because they care. He's new and represents them. Everyone just bytched and whined about Ab-Soul's album. Ab-Soul fans whined and complained and said "Mehhhhh, not good enough!!! Mehhhh!" Meanwhile, G-Eazy bought his albums in droves and masturbated the whole time. G-Eazy fans SUPPORT THEIR ARTIST.
No, G-Eazy, and Chance and _____ are not fukking plants. There is no such thing as plants. The real plants are idiots who think there are plants.
Sincerely,
A person who never never heard of G-Eazy until this week, and thinks he sucks.
On point.
I think the guy sucks but he has a niche fanbase and audience he's delivering to.
Plus, his fanbase is kinda like Logics fanbase (except Logic doesn't have female fans really)
No one on here or other hip hop forums really listens to Logic. But when I played COD competitively, there was lots of youtubers hyping his shyt up and using his songs in montages. Playing it in their streams. Logic got most of his fanbase from teenager COD nerds/addicts and "bro types"
Guys like THIS

He's not on the radio. I can't even name a song from the guy or a project but he has a very loyal fanbase and those type of fans don't over think shyt the way we do. They just know they like it, and that's that. Yeah, they'll illegally download a link. Yeah they are more so casual fans that like the obvious big name guys like Jay, Pac, Big and Em.. and never heard of no AZ or. But current rappers they like are Drake, Kendrick, J Cole, Meek Mill, Mac Miller and Logic and some trap and drill.
But they go to concerts and buy music. And don't give a shyt about paying for music. I remember I used to clown those type of dudes hard cause some of them act like they really know rap like that but they do really support artist and help them out by sometimes playing their music in their streams
this dude right here

pretty much got most of whole Competitive COD scene into Chief Keef and some other drill artists.
He used to stay playing Back From The Dead when it first dropped on stream. He'd stream for like 6 hours and consistently have 5k+ viewers, not the same 5k people.. People leaving his stream, new viewers coming in etc etc. even more when he'd play tournies. his entire chat would be FILLED with people asking him "what's the name of this song?"
The "casual" hip hop fanbase is the best kind to have. Especially the college types cause a lot of them will just buy an album without hearing it first. they're not discussing shyt intricately like we do. They just know they like the music or artist and expose it to their other friends and viewers who are the same.
I would not be surprised one bit if Logic dropped an album and it sold 100k+ first week cause he's been building up that dedicated niche cod nerd/college bro fanbase for YEARS. And they ride for him hard.
