yeah I agree, he was doing pretty well till that Harden trade but Harden has also been great for them so cant blame them for that decision, but it definitely was the end of Russ there.

Russ deserves credit for turning things around with Denver and it probably does say a lot about Jokic’s ability/personality/leadership, but we’re not gonna cap about Harden’s time with LAC when following those 6 games (after a garbage 4 game easy schedule to start the season) the Clippers had a damn near 2 month stretch where they looked like the best team in the NBA/title contenders, with Harden as the starting point guard.

17/8/5 on 43/38/88 in 72 games.

Ultimately the Clippers success -as always- was tied to Kawhi’s knees… and that’s what cost them in the playoffs. They were the favorites vs Dallas until it got revealed Leonard was cooked.

More-so, in that playoff series Harden showed up, Russ imploded, and PG shrank. So it made sense that out of those 3, they kept Harden; and he’s been doing damn well w/o any of them but Norman Powell as his #2.

Bigger picture, there’s a lot of blame to go around why Russ’s tenure in other places didn’t work out or were extremely volatile, and at times he was unfairly the scape goat, but he was also fukking up a lot of times too.

at this point you cant take him out of the starting lineup. it may just work out for the best too because now you have a backup big that you can bring into the game fresh rather than gordon playing heavy minutes and being the only option whenever jokic needs a breather. i cant imagine its happened too often that 4 out of the 5 nuggets starters were a negative on the floor while the bench guys are +23, +30, +13, and +16 like they were against the mavs.
