So I had a flabby nikka moment, when did they stop teaching cursive writing in school?

It is pointless now. My signature looks like crap but it is consistent and easy.

Damn, I'm :flabbynsick:

It's funny, my cursive is better than my print

IMO, good cursive is like an art. Especially when you can write small & clearly.

Younger gens writing like this now :picard:

OT but something that threw me off too is older students not knowing how to use an actual clock to tell time…not just that they won’t try, they literally do not know how to do it at all…this used to be taught in the lower grade levels or even at home but with cellphones and other electronics it’s become “useless”
Yeah, I wasn't allowed to have a digital watch/clock until i learned how to read an analog clock.

I worked hard to get that Casio calculator watch 😂

Like the entire concept had her mind shooting error messages and she was like "so what happens if they dont rewind it? It won't play:patrice:"

Asking the right questions lmao. That's not a bad question to ask about that lol

She gonna look at you crazy when you say it was just for convenience for the next person

My 21 year old brother don’t know how to write cursive. But yeah I learned that two years ago when I seen one of my young guys (military) handwriting and I was like yo are you retarded?

They don’t teach penmanship either :unimpressed:

I’m 28. The only time I was taught cursive in school was in 4th grade when I went to a private Christian school. I was never taught it at any other school and I went to school in New York and Florida.:yeshrug:

I'm 33 bro. New York too. We was thoroughly taught how to write in script every grade up until middle school. I can still write and read it fluently, even though it's a useless skill now. Writing cursive was still a standard in the early 90s.

My question is, if kids today are not learning cursive at all, how do they sign their names?

I ain't gonna lie, as much as this question has been raised, I'm curious as to how often your signature has been up in contention yk?

Like I literally scribble mine for the most part and it's legit never been a problem.

Worrying about the aesthetics of a signature is only important if you're a celebrity or something. Most people genuinely do not care what your sig looks like or if they can read it, and I've never signed something and had someone ask to see my id or something to see the sig there or a credit card.

The only reason I heard why cursive was needed was just because it's essentially shorthand and easier/quicker to write - visually pleasing is one thing, but that's calligraphy more than just cursive imo
