Ace is a good villain for John Cena because he's like a mirror of Cena. Cena is basically a heel who trolls the audience just like him. They aren't oblivious to how the audience perceives them but Ace can work it in his favor while all Cena can do is make goofy faces and go into speech Cena mode about how "no matter how much you hate me WWE universe, I'll never hate you back!... ".

Cena can try and do his best to Ace but Ace'll just cause he could give a dam about what the crowd thinks and that shyt right back like a champ on some "you're being unreasonable Cena... "

Truth be told now that you said that... Johnny Ace does look like what Cena will become in the future. I can imagine Cena being an agent backstage once he retires and being corny as hell just like Johnny... but at least Johnny is not that boring.
