Give her the news now. Tell her you are sorry as you felt she had potential and would have been a great asset to the organization. You say it isnt coming from anyone but you, but she should hold her head up and try again down (6 months) the line if it looks like the best opportunity for her to persue, say you wish you could go to bat for her on this as she was a breath of fresh air compared to the other hires, and you can only hope more like her apply.After the interview I gave her my card, huddle at the office we narrowed it down, she wasnt in the starting 5, HR were supposed to give her the negative result...
Couple of weeks go by, she calls me up asking me if we've forgotten about her, Im like, let me check with HR and get back to you. Her shyt fell thru the cracks now I gotta tell her she aint up for shyt. I call her twice to give her the bad news, no response...
I get a text around midnight from her..."You're probably not working right now... but I missed your calls bla bla bla"

Let her know that it is ultimately out of your hands, and you hope she has better luck next time. Then give her the "If you would like advice on how to go about it next time/if you have any questions about the process, feel free to contact me." The idea is to give her a glowing fukking review, but sound totally clinical about it. If you can get her to laugh and whatnot all while not overtly flirting, you might be able to get her to contact you in the near future, and you pick up on some "OH! The would-be hire! It is refreshing to hear from you again." and keep it business as usual.
Hopefully she wants contact after a few weeks, and you telling her that her opportunity to try again for the job are remote, you can disassociate her job prospects with her potential interest in you.
