why would you even get a home loan from capital one? find another lender, you'll figure it out, get an fha loan if you have a difficult time.

It sounds weird but capital one has moved hard into the lending space.

To OP:

Check other lenders...beware though, a bunch of checks on your credit can fukk your credit score up even more.

A broker can probably find you an appropriate lender.

If you're a minority, woman or a veteran check out government programs.

yeah i think you're going about your search all wrong. applying to a national bank is not the best option unless you have excellent credit and 20% down. i'd recommend you hire a broker who can look into things that match up with your financial situation/background and go from there. down payment assistant programs might even be available in your county. never leave money on the table.

I was reading how brokers usually go with whatever gives them a bigger cut and not necessarily what is best for you. But multiple people in the thread has mentioned a broker so will do some research for some in my area

regardless of the cut they are getting, you only go with the best deal for your budget. i don't care how much the next man is making off my deal as long as the deal is is favorable to me. more reason for them to work harder for me.

gotta find a reputable broker, but even with an disreputable one you end up with a house vs no broker and no house.... try several brokers.

capital one brought the US division of ING bank

if you get all the credit checks done in the span of a couple weeks the credit bureaus count it as one

that's the thing in a lot of markets today, it's a ton of money. I've been going through the motions to find and buy a place for over a year.
