Most of the audience (myself included):to: was tearing up, sniffing or straight up crying by the end. Very brutal, difficult watch full of excellent acting with a great screenplay, all the more compelling for being a true story. A lot of the grotesque and complex elements of the slave-owner relationship were fully portrayed, better than any previous movie on the subject. I do think it had some minor technical issues due to being somewhat more "Hollywood" in production than McQueen's other films and involving some outside influence (the soundtrack, for example... Hans Zimmer was a terrible choice,) but overall, I can't hate. This is currently the definitive slavery movie to date.

I teared up a bit, but didn't cry. No shame in anyone crying for a movie like this, though. This is real Black, American history and is a directly personal issue for many people- no offense, but as a Cape Verdean, I don't expect you to fully understand.

It seems like American Black identity is what you really don't understand. Your ancestors bought a ticket and came here on a plane, not a ship, not in chains, not to work on plantations, so it's curious to me that you pretended to be eligible for slavery reparations and talked about "us" like you are a product of American slavery, then turn around and judge people for being personally affected by that history. I suggest you watch the movie and learn about Black American history instead of ranting about homosexuals.

:russ: I dont need handouts from cacs. They enslaved my people, we got over it and get money. You in the theatre tearing up because you p*ssy not because of the effects of slavery. My family tree is more connected to the diaspora of slavery then yours. From Africa, to the islands to America but you know what, im just not p*ssy so tearin up like a woman over a film that represents where we are in life, which i wouldnt trade for the world is corny. Man the fukk up bro. Handle your emotions more stoically in the future. We not feelin your emo moment.

Why? Because you're half white Portugese? Or is it because of your Asian wife? :skip: Sorry, friend, but facts are facts. I'm not half-white nor am I descended from slave trade middlemen Cape Verdeans who still don't even consider themselves Black, so I guess I don't understand what greater connections you have that aren't to slavemasters.

Who's "we?" Some Cape Verdeans? There's no "we" for you when it comes to the American slave history. I don't care what some Cape Verdean thinks about my reactions to the histories of my ancestors, and only someone who was disconnected from the weight of slavery in America could make such a remark.

You also didn't answer why you pretended to be eligible for slavery reparations and pretended to be connected to that history when your ancestors were actually helping ship Black folks to the Americas and your family came here on a plane, friend. But I guess we all know the reason for that. Anyway, your :flabbynsick: responses are boring, so I'll leave this thread back to the topic at hand. Ramble away.

You're retreating into your imagination to make excuses for why you actin p*ssy. The only one rambling is you. But i get it. We gotta make excuses and get personal as cover for being bytch. :wow:
