Why you say that
The reliability of cars in this class is generally subpar when compared to the typical vehicle that isn't tuned for performance. So 60k is a bit high assuming you'll be keeping the car for a while. 10k a year is what u can expect to accumulate and that's assuming you don't drive much. Long story short if you're doing close to 15k miles a year you'll be in "major repair territory" within 2-3 years. This is the time where previous maintenance makes all the difference.

I don't even really see myself driving that much to be honest. MAYBE hit up Austin a couple times throughout the year and that's only 30 mins away. To and from work pretty much.

The B7 S4 was on my short list when I was searching for a car. Loved the idea of a car that small with a V8, 6 speed manual, and all wheel drive... till I read the horror stories about the timing chain tensioners (on the BACK of the engine!
), carbon buildup, and other issues. Still wouldn't mind having an S4 Avant. Get a 3rd party warranty (like Route 66 or the GMAC RepairMax...I had that one and they covered a total of $7000 over 3 years on my BMW). You're gonna need it. Best of luck..
