Its over. Lol my friend gf told him she wanted space recently and theyre in a goddamn long distance relationship.

But back to your question, I dont think it automatically means she wants to have sex with other men per se, I just think that it means theyre over the relationship. The hell is space going to do if you dont resolve things head on? Come back after the "space" only to realize those same thoughts are still present? Break up and move on. Why people even try to fool themselves I dont even know.

Give her the space, dont argue, dont make it seem like it hurts.....just say OK its probably for the best, you need it too and go...... don't even check on her once the space is granted....she expect you to chase her down and annoy her....dont make any contact and she may probably be calling you with the I miss you shortly.

Agreed.

In a relationship, you work your problems out together. If one person needs "space" they basically want out of the relationship to do them...and if that happens to be hooking up with someone else, they can use the excuse that you guys were "technically on a break." But if that doesn't work out, then can also come back and tell you how much they miss you. Space is selfish. You're either in or out! lol

Ive wanted to break up and didnt have anyone else in mind; I was just over the relationship. I didnt ask for space though, just broke up with him. But youre right it does happen a lot.

your situation is different than asking for space. If you break up with someone it's final in your mind, and it should be in thier mind as well. But by bringing up space your giving the other person hope that ok time apart and he/she will come back......... when in reality you already left the relationship and you have your eyes set on for the most part someone else. But don't have the courage or you are not at the point of fully emotionally detaching to drop them thangs on them.

I was in a long distance relationship maybe 6-7 years ago. I told him it's not working out for me and that I wanted to break up. He wouldn't accept it and said to wait to "officially break up" when he comes up to visit me :wtb: I never understood that request because he knew my heart was no longer in it. If someone tells you they want out then they want out.

Yess that is the worst. Mine wasnt ldr but I went through the same thing. Its like do you want me to fool you and myself and put on a front like im happy, or be honest? Be glad the other person is being up front and move on. Im not going to lie like breaking up isnt hard sometimes, but I'd rather not be strung along/string others along and waste each others time.
