Tyler the Creator woulda outsold Kendrick? Let's talk about it

Chromakopia did 299,500, we'll call it 300k, off of what? 1 week notice, a snippet of the intro track (instrumental) and half of a song with Schoolboy Q. Basically no momentum outside of core fans

GNX did 319k....with the biggest song in the world and just winning the biggest rap beef in history so far, tons of casual fans showed up

And the difference is only 19k?

We seen the reaction at the Pop Out
:hubie: I'm just sayin

We were VERY close to Tyler being able to say that "it's just Big Me" line and I don't think most of the culture is ready for that. Y'all thought he was mean the way he started bullying DJ Khaled to defend himself :mjlol: it's prolly a few more big names on that list, shyt might get spooky as hell next time around

And this is probably his least marketed album, we haven't seen any of the clothing/accessory/one-off stuff he'd usually do.

Even the verse from his "Hey Now" freestyle stick in my head more than the OG :ohhh: shyt's crazy

Check the numbers now. Kendricks album has more hits and legs.

First week sales aren’t the end all be all.

Bad Bunny did 110k then 205k and now he’s about to do 185k in his third week. Already has 1.5 billion streams.

Lil Baby did 125k first week and has been flopping ever since.

Albums don’t stop selling after the first week.

Nah.... not to mention, like Billboard said, the difference in sales between both albums is even bigger than you're saying.

Tyler had more tracks and had bundles, which boosted his sales by a lot. Kendrick still outsold him regardless and is now doing even better in the long run.

I don't think there's a problem having bundles for an album, first off. But making definitive statements on who is more popular than who, solely based off album sales where one guy had bundles and the other didn't is wild. It invalidates the entire argument. You bring up the Pop Up but....who sold out the Pop Out? Nobody knew who the guests were gonna be. Tyler got a big reaction but so did Kendrick so uh....what are we doing here.

They are both hugely popular. I'd say Kendrick is more popular but who cares man.

Lol... it's like saying MCHG outsold Eminem albums because Samsung Galaxy owners received a million copies for free.

Gnx is seriously outperforming Chroma (even more after the first week sales) despite having no box, merch and bundles linked to the release (and no lead single prior to the release), which contributed to more than 30% of Tyler sales according to chartdata.

Kendrick outselling Tyler despite having none of that kinda proves they're not on the same level of popularity.
