so I'm going to be driving with no insurance

Yeah I know what you mean. How the world works though. I've been in court for speeding tickets and people were in there losing there licenses.

This is how you do it. I went 2 years without insurance this way. (license not suspended once)
You have to set it up so that your Insurance renew date, and your registration renew date fall around the same time, because here you have to show proof of insurance to renew your registration.
Once you have that set up. You get insurance through some small company (dont go with the big boys, because they notify the state when you cancel, or if your insurance lapses) So you get your insurance. get a temp card, and go into the DMV and renew your registration (preferrably for the max amount of time they allow). go back and cancel your insurance.
As long as you dont drive like a maniac a cop will see your plate with the registration up to date and most likely leave you alone.
If you get pulled over, or worse get in an accident
You better act your ass off.
