Dont buy a ring in a jewelry store, the diamonds are poor quality and the rings are overpriced. Do your research and dont let them sell you SI grade diamonds for a VVS price. I recommend doing some research into reputable online diamond dealers and purchase from them. The diamond i bought my fiance has an upgrade policy so they will give me the purchase price i paid for the stone on an upgrade any time i want.

Figure out the type of design your girl wants and have the ring made. She wont be able to find EXACTLY what she wants in a store so you can just have that made and it will be cheaper than whats in the store.

I went that route and when my fiance had her ring appraised it was appraised for triple what i paid. She has no idea what i actually paid though.
