It's a reason comedians thrive at these kind of shows. I like Nick but yeah this ain't it. :mjcry:

Ya'll feeling it?

Is it as bad as when Stephen A was trying to get into late night a few months back and hosted the Late Night with Stephen Colbert?

:deadmanny::deadrose:

THAT was the worst thing I ever seen in my life. I got second hand embarrassment listening to Stephen A trying to monologue. :snoop:

It's bad, he's just not naturally funny. Comedians need to host these shows, and Nick isn't that. His writers can't save him here.

Nick Cannon is a good dude, but there is a reason why a lot of talk shows (especially in daytime) fail as not everyone is able to carry one as solo lead. Unfortunately, he seems to be one of those people and is better off being a host and as part of an ensemble cast.

A late night talk show is the ultimate test of being able to MIDDLE.
A great comic couldn't do it either, it takes a comic who has an eclectic taste in a wide range of issues but more importantly has the charisma and social IQ to know how to menouvre with various aspects of the show.

Conana O'brien is a Havard white boy and he knows his comedy very well (he studied the likes of Bill Burr, Patric O'Neal etc and he understands what funny is).

Same goes for David Letterman (his closest comic friend was the great Norm Macdonald).

People see extremely intelligent, charismatic and high social/emotional IQ individuals do something and think "that's doable, I can do that".

Racism however has prevented some great black comics who had the temperament to run a late night talk show.

Arsenio Hall was decent, but nothing special. They tried giving Chris Rock on HBO one, but Chris Rock is too good of a comic/loner /weirdo... He lacked the social cool it guy aspect.

Paul Mooney would've been a great late night host, another one would've been one of the Wayne's brothers (not sure if Keenan or Damon).. But it's rare to find someone who is both funny and understands funny and has natural charisma AND is willing to play the game and pretend to be interested in a whole lot of guests they don't give a damn about.

Nick Cannon doesn't even do a good podcast.

His talk show is daytime airing. OP must have been watching a late night showing or had an episode recorded. The daytime demographic is tough to get your footing in as even Drew Barrymore is struggling with her talk show.

Nick is like Oprah, great at networking and dependable to get the job done thus they get bags which accumulate into massive wealth BUT they arent generational talent or innovative where they create and carry things if that makes sense?

like they are good employees but not great creators

They're trying and even bringing in all of her celebrity friends to help out, but it just isn't working out :mjlol:

As corny as I think Kelly Clarkson is, she's really good at being a talk show lead.

to be a good talk show host you gotta he a good facilitator. Its like how in sports a coach prob had a mid/trash career as an athlete BUT their understanding of dynamics that = success are top notch.

like a GOAT comedian may be trash as a host because facilitating people isnt really required, and its a different skill than say controlling the crowd
