True but thats based on talent and winning only. Austin is multifaceted. His entire come up was almost done by circumstance. It was organic and the fans ate it up. If someone does surpass him it wont be for this lifetime.

I'd say right now it goes Rock, Hogan, Austin as the GOAT.

They are still the holy trinity though, well above whoever is #4 .

Rock's 2000-01 run is arguably bigger than anything Austin did.

Here is the thing about these sorts of things; each generation is always going to re-define what they consider to be the best in any category. Kids from late 1980s consider super mario 64 to be the best super mario game of all time while kids from late 90s consider super mario sunshine to be the best mario game of all time. Star War fans who saw movies 4,5, and 6 as kids believe the prequels are garbage while kids who grew up watching these prequels only see the majesty of set design and fail to see anything particularly wrong with them.

This pattern can be seen in music, politics, religion, and a whole other host of areas. These 'truths' are perspectival truths. Events occur in our lives that leave a lasting impression on our collective psyche. But things change. A new generation always comes along devoid of older generation's experiences that strives to create its own unique moments, its own truths.

20 years in the future I don't know if people will believe that Cena is the greatest of all time but I am willing to bet that neither Stone cold nor Rock will be up there. And it's ok.
