\My point was he referenced classic gangster movies in a way these youngsters cant do...they aint grow up on dat and when they do reference some for their gangsta rhymes its usually on some kiddie young bol shyt

Also are u ignoring songs like Picasso baby, Blue, Nickels and Dimes, Oceans, F.U.T.W, SomewhereinAmerica, Heaven etc.

Like u rlly tellin me this album aint mature :stopitslime:

If anything this is Jay's most mature album, maybe second to kingdom come

you a youngsta

Jay rapping at 50 will never morph the culture into one that accepts old artists.

Rock has done so from day one. Hip-hop considers you old by your fifth album.

Jay, Nas, Em will only be allowed to do it cause of the gravity of their names. And nikkas on here already call Nas 'irrelevant' when he's the youngest of the three.

Nas addressing real life issues (relationships, divorce, dealing with his daughter, growing into a mature man) >>> Jay-Z doing Picasso Baby

I just want a Picasso, in my casa
No, my castle
I'm a hassa, no I'm an a$$hole
I'm never satisfied, can't knock my hustle
I wanna Rothko, no I wanna brothel
No, I want a wife that fukk me like a prostitute
Let's make love on a million, in a dirty hotel
With the fan on the ceiling, all for the love of drug dealing
Marble Floors, gold Ceilings
Oh what a feeling - fukk it I want a billion
Jeff Koons balloons, I just wanna blow up
Condos in my condos, I wanna row of
Christie's with my missy, live at the MoMA
Bacons and turkey bacons, smell the aroma

Real deep stuff right there :comeon:

Grown man doesnt equal deep

A grown man also enjoys indulgence ..but as they grow their tastes mature

And Picasso baby represents that..the maturity of an artist's taste growing but not only that Jay makin the point that hip hop has grown enough to be respected on the same level or moreso than art's most prominent forms

Which was outlined by the Picasso baby video

Like I said..u listening or are u skippin thru :mjpls:

Listen, could you imagine writing your deposition?
Divorce Lawyer telling you how this thing gonna be ending?
With you paying out the ass, and I'm talking half
Not some but half. No serious, half
Half of your soul, half of your heart you leaving behind
It's either that or die, I wanted peace of mind
And all I seen was selfish cowards, under they breath
Saying "why did Nas trust her? ", but look at yourself, speak louder bruh
You live with your babymoms and scared to make an honest woman out of her
And make her your bride, fake bytch you ain't even a lie
At least I can say I tried plus enjoyed the ride
Plus we got our little boy, my little joy and pride
He got my nose, my grill, your colour, your eyes
Next go round I hope I pick the truest type and watch me do it all again
It's a beautiful life, aight
Goodbye

Grown man shyt right here :wow:

It was 4 years between his last two solo albums if i'm not mistaken, that's one maybe two more albums by the time he's 50. And really...I would be mad if jay up and quit after 50, just for the simple fact that somebody that old not only rapping, but being relevent to the music and the culture will be pushing us as a whole into the rock and roll territory where our history can't be invalidated as some kind of youth fad or some shyt, rappers could possibly do shyt like the rolling stones and still have viable careers beyond the average shelf life of the emcee which is like 4 years at best. Like the music or not that's a GOOD thing.

Don't care for Jay, but I still had to dap this post.Good point

I think it's a very real possibility at this point...he's as popular as he's ever been and could pull it off...i think it's more likely than not, even if he's not full time rapping (not putting out albums but still dropping the occasional song or guest verse)...the better question is what will a 50 year old Jay-Z be bragging about in his rhymes :lupe: ...the exclusive super expensive European boarding school Blue Ivy attends? Prostrate exams on the private jet?

I mean...dude is gonna be 60 and probably still nice, he's gonna be like the rap version of the dos equis guy...I mean he already is but it's just gonna look/sound that much more ill when he's got great hair on his humps, I can't wait.

All I can say its gonna be interesting to see if Jay can start to develop his content a little better as he starts to get even older. I mean if he gonna keep releasing albums for another 5 or 10 years into his fifties then he's going to have to reinvent himself again, which gets harder as you get older.

I get the feeling that a lot of his fans from his heyday are kinda fed with him already and that the only reason he is still really popular now is his remarkable ability to pick causal listeners; being attached to another global superstar helps this too. 5 years from now the music landscape will be different so who can really say where Jay will fit in. I mean look at where 50 is now who would have said that 5 years ago? and remember his commercial pick was far higher than Jay's; 50's peak was second only to Em, yet if he dropped an album today I doubt it would even do Life Is Good numbers.
