So is Mass Effect 3's ending the worst ending in any form of media ever?

Many things have bad endings. Most don't apologize for them and make an event out of redoing them. Most of the time you're basically told by the creators that it is what it is and they let the crappy ending stand. Mass Effect 3 united the entire video game fanbase (fanboys and all) against EA and Bioware and forced them to change it. for PR purposes. Beyond that the new Mass Effect pretty much abandons the original series entirely. The creators are for the most part abandoning the original trilogy as if they're admitting it was a mistake.

I know people will say LOST but honestly I have no major issues with how LOST ended. I feel like given the mess the writers made over the years the ending they crafted was about as good as could be expected. That's not to say it was a good end but I find it acceptable and made my peace with it.

I'd say a second runner up would have to be the ending to Oreimo. Sure it's a crap show but it was a guilty pleasure and I kinda held out hope that the ending would be at least acceptable. It literally made me want to vomit. It's one of those endings that renders everything that proceeded it worthless. It's like a giant middle finger to anybody that watched the series.

I get that incest is a touchy subject but don't dip your toe in the pool then turn around and walk away. Especially when dude breaks it off with a gang of chicks that were legitimately into him for that bullshyt. This is the harem show where not only is there no winner but everyone is a loser.

But, as a Mass Effect stan/fan (I just finished ME2 two days ago for about the 7th time) I do feel the reaction to the ending is overblown. Maybe because I didn't experience it with the rest of the internet;

ME3 was the first time I remember even hearing of a Mass Effect. I rented it for a day, Amazon had a ME1 + ME2 bundle for $11---the rest is history.

I remember finishing 3 (without the Extended Cut) for the first time. I didn't have a anger towards to abrupt ending. Granted I didn't carry over my character from the first two--had 1 + 2 for PC and 3 for 360. I still felt I finished what I set out to do since Game 1.

It even took me a while to see why everyone else was mad.

In the end, the question remains; what would you have it end like?

In the end I'd take Starchild completely out of the series and just dramatize destroying the Reapers...maybe one last epic convo with Harbinger (or whatever the alpha Reaper would be)

The last mission was ill!

I understand the Casey Hudson took it upon himself to finish the story without any input (if that online post by one of the writers [taken down] was true] and that's always a bad look.

But, I felt the story of that universe was; we have an unstoppable force than will require unity to face, let's address our galactic differences and come together to stop it.

Ya'll wanted a ME4 and having to wait another game to finish the Reapers?

If anything; I can see ppl complaining about how ME3 streamlined every RPG aspect of the first two games. Even giving the option to play a straight up action game. Or the DLC .

i don't think so. was i disappointed? most definitely. especially since you put so much time into developing characters only for them to be minimal in the end. i think arkham knight as a whole has been far more disappointing than me3.

The ending was horrible you have the reapers channeling a human child form to relay messges about the universe what the fukk is that? These Reapers been around eons and they are using a fukking child for Shepard get the fukk out of here.

The choices you made in the previous game didnt have an impact and the story never really touched the reapers or Protheans at all in depth to the point you understand the history.
