couple things wrong with this

every team, from now until eternity, can use an Adrian Peterson. and Gore looked just fine running out of the pistol he made another Pro Bowl and had over 100 in the SB. Seahawks also have an old school back in Lynch

Running back is the one position where you can have a huge season one year and then just be released the next right out of the blue. Especially once a back hits 30. Most teams follow the myth that a running back is pretty much finished once he hits 30. Guys like Edgerrin and Shaun Alexander were dominant for a few seasons then it seems like they just drop off the face of the earth without even a tryout from other teams. It wont be long before guys who seem like they just got in the league such as MJD Ray Rice and Peterson hit 30 and we'll be talking about if they still got it.

Fads come and go ( i.e. The Wildcat) but the truth is that when it comes down to it, you will always need a grinder that can lower his shoulders and run off tackle. Imagine how much different life would be for Wes Welker had the Patriots had a legit feature back to run the clock out in the Super Bowl.
