see...this is the problem with this generation. You have to earn the right to call yourself the King. Hov had to go head to head with Nas for that title. Nas won the Battle, Hov won the war. The throne was for the taking after biggie died. I repeat BIGGIE DIED. So by default the winner of Hov vs Nas would be crowned king. So Kendrick or whoever has to go at Hov. Make some direct shyt. I like where Kendrick is going. He needs to directly go at Hov. It's a win win for Kendrick if he did that. He'd be the first nikka since Nas to not be afraid to go at Hov with direct lines not subliminals. And I think right now he is hungry enough he could force hov to take a step back. But if he makes the same mistake as others...being scared and getting Hov for features and simply biggin him up while he's hot...he's just gonna end up like the others. When his buzz drops, Hov will say some slick shyt to secure his spot. And just like with weezy...it'll be too late. Kendrick would end up as the next victim on a summer jam screen.

Chill man, I'm an old head. I was exaggerating of course but you really think Jay still has the crown? Jay bowed out of the game himself and went and ran def jam. He relinquished the title. To use a serious analogy now, he is like George Foreman and Larry Holmes who were still fighting in the 40s. They were still great legendary fighters even at 40 but they were not seriously the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing. Tyson didn't have to knock them on their ass for everyone to understand that. Nobody ever beat Jordan in the championship. But when he came back and played for the Wizards it was understood that the torch was passed. Jay loves to compare himself to MJ. Well he is wearing a Wizards uniform these days.
