Not dead, no. Not really occupying as much of the mainstream consciousness as it once did? I would say yes.

Wrestling is still very popular, but it's not generating a ton of new fans. WWE's aging audience is indicative of that. Luckily for them, it's not something that will be a problem for the forseeable future.

Networks are overpaying for live TV "DVR Proof" content and WWE has a consistent live audience with no offseason. WWE are simply benefiting from circumstance.

Professional wrestling however died in 2001. Even though there's options out of the ass when it comes down to choices of promotions to watch, every promotion follows the same carny code. The only promotion honestly doing something different is Lucha Underground because it embraces it's inner "wrestling is fake' by delivering pure uncut fukkery and I'm not even a LU fanboy any means.

Mainstream, it’s stale 100%. But financially viable still. But in other walks, like indies and overseas, it’s thriving. The business has the best chance at getting mainstream recognition now than it has in a long time. If the quality of main roster WWE programming increased I think we’d probably reach that point sometime in the near future.

Exactly. The only thing WWE is doing is playing the THOT in all of this, because FOX really has nothing to other beyond Bundesliga (Bayern winz), Nascar, and other mutant sports that no one watches. Such a shame because Fox Sports was legit the shyt on not only a sports level, but all around entertainment level

Fox still has fox sports, they spent a lot of money for thursday night football, but the UFC deal is ending and they sold all their studios to Disney and they are running out of options.

Fox doesn't want anything else. They want drams, Multicam comedies, and sports. That's it. We'll see if this works for the company as a whole but hopefully they use this as a time to reboot everything or at least finally refresh the product after using the same basic format for 20 years

I honestly gave up on Fox when they cancelled Touch and Grandfathered. Mainly Touch because man, that show didn't have to end with that shytty season 2

Hence why I'm mainly TCM and Filmstruck gang. I haven't really messed with TV Shows since Breaking Bad went off the air.
