Not sure if trolling, but what happened in the beginning doesn't justify being racist. Plenty of folks deal with bad customers all day.
This administration has done a bang up job of normalizing the second class status of Black people. So, now anti-Black racism isn’t even viewed as a bad thing. It’s viewed as a legitimate and viable political opinion in this socio-political climate.
It’s going to take a huge amount of energy to put the devil back into a box.
What is crazy is that, for decades, people have had to use increasingly abstract dog whistles to express their racism. Now, just in the last few years, they are about 90% of the way to completely reversing it.
We have gotten to the point where politicians have figured out that they can say the most vicious, overtly racist things directed towards black people AS LONG AS they dress it up as being directed towards black immigrants (Haitians last year, and now Somalis).
Soon, they will be able to realize their fantasy of just directly saying what they want to say about black Americans.
