I'm convinced you can't read or at least you like to pretend you can't.

Never claimed anyone said that, CONSOLES WILL NOT HAVE GAINS FROM DX12.

I simply said your assertion that the article "has nothing to do with consoles" is false seeing how the API's discussed are being used for consoles as well
:snoop:
You're so caught up in the details that you missed the whole point. You can talk about api's without talking about it's functionality in a console, which was what I said was the premise of the article in the OP.

The article didn't talk about it's benefits or gains to be used in current gen consoles. :snoop:
You're not exactly telling me something I don't know by saying consoles have api's.

You can't find the word "PS4" or "Xbox one" in that article at all because.... DING DING DING, they werent' talking about Xbox 1.

Heck, Ps4 doesn't even use Direct x so your whole "You said they won't have any effect on consoles" point is incorrect anyway.

I gotta agree with y'all Directx12 isn't going to do anything for xbox one. Only PC. Tiled resources is fake except when it makes one of the best looking console games ever.

The article doesn't mention any specific platform because its talking about API's and game development in genral. Some consoles run the API's being talked about. Therefore your assertion that the article has "nothing to do with consoles" is wrong

Using your logic I could say.

"Well the article has nothing to do with AMD machines since he didn't specifically mention them"

Yeah its kinda stupid. All I hear is that isn't going to work... But earlier people were saying well they will have their own version of mantle/directx12

Yes, DX12 is the reason AMD and nVidia will stop releasing video cards for the next 4 years.

But software is the reason you and I can have the same hardware yet very different performance.:ohhh:

So the idea that new drivers/software can't bring major performance increases is just as asinine as the strawman y'all keep attacking.

The tiled resources is going to free up the GPU. The dx12 is going to Use all the cores and give more processing power. Sounds good to me.

The part about dx12 being about "coding to the metal" which x1 is already doing. Is just wrong.

First off the main draw of DX12 is not "coding to the metal"

It's about better utilizing CPU cores

And secondly the current Xbox API is far from "coding to the metal" right now.

Also your assertion that PS4 uses DX is just false :manny:

The main draw of DX12 is to give PC devs a console like API to work with. What does that mean? Low level coding with less driver overhead, a.k.a coding closer to the metal.

Console hardware and software (OS) is fairly static, unlike PC's where your hardware choices vary. Static hardware and proprietary software make the use of API's completely different in consoles and PCs.

With the sheer amount of Googling you guys do, it amazes me you can't use it for something useful. Like doing a little research before making claims.

Sony dives deep into the PS4’s hardware power, controller features at GDC | Ars Technica

Sony is building its CPU on what it's calling an extended DirectX 11.1+ feature set, including extra debugging support that is not available on PC platforms. This system will also give developers more direct access to the shader pipeline than they had on the PS3 or through DirectX itself. "This is access you're not used to getting on the PC, and as a result you can do a lot more cool things and have a lot more access to the power of the system," Norden said. A low-level API will also let coders talk directly with the hardware in a way that's "much lower-level than DirectX and OpenGL," but still not quite at the driver level.

This is the main reason I love sh*tting on you and Court.
