Was joepa powerful? Sure

Did he play a big role in the coverup? Yes

Is he the biggest piece of the puzzle here? No, there are men who's responsibilities were to do something about this and they did nothing. Their reason for doing nothing (whether it is because of what joe said or not) is irrelevant. Even if joe was the most powerful man on campus, that doesn't mean you listen to him on a matter like this. To make it even worse Spanier called the decision "humane"! clearly we are dealing with a man that had a warped sense of morality

It's a very small piece of a big picture

The investigation isnt there to find the whole truth. You cant expect a private investigation like this to reveal everything when the people that are paying the investigator are guilty themselves. This is simply damage control, they're trying to push this idea that the people responsible are all either dead or fired when that isn't really the case

It's hard to say that ONE MAN, especially a head coach, could have kept all of this hidden, but if anyone could have hushed it all up it would have been Joe Pa.

However, there are definitely more people involved than just Joe Pa. I think that they all deserve to burn in hell.

I'd be interested to see what Sandusky had to say about everything, but he's a fukking child rapist bytch that I hate with all of my soul, and he probably couldn't be trusted anyway. If he even knew what was going on. Sounds like he had his nose to the rape-little-boys-grind. He probably had no clue of the workings going on above/around him.

However, Joe Pa did know about this stuff, and the circumstances surrounding the program's success at the time raises my eyebrows. Joe Pa would have, without a doubt, been fired after this news came out in 2001. With those two 5 win seasons happening at the same time. He's losing the team, he's losing control of everything, time to go. There was definitely some protecting of Joe Pa to accompany the Sandusky protection.

no one has ever said it was one man who kept it hidden. the school president and the athletic director and others were clearly aware of the happenings, and all played a part in the cover up. the entire network is corrupt, and most of it is still in place at the school. would the board of trustees quash this if they were made aware of the rapes? not likely, but paterno made sure they wouldnt have to make that choice, as he put his job and his legacy in front of childrens well being and had this swept under the rug and kept in house
