aight... let me say this. I'll keep it 100%, to me GKMC is one of the dopest albums released in years. and since I've been following TDE since like 08 or something (mostly Jay Rock because he was "the man" back then, still payed attention to other 3, KDot was probably #2 on my list until Q & Soulo dropped their mixtapes in 09 ) I was happy to see Kendrick blow up and rest of em get more attention in 2011-2012. Imo they deserve it because they're talented and all of em had been dropping good music for some years.

now, Im aware some people here were talkin about all the industry plant bullshyt etc. etc.... i personally didnt care much / didnt think it was that obvious because like i said i had been following TDE for a while and was already pretty much fan of all 4 of em after C4/Gangsta&Soul/Longterm had dropped. i figured that if someone as nice as Kendrick blows up it's good for hip hop. it's not like ur forced to like/listen anything u dont like.


however, sometimes enough is enough..I mean the reaction to Control was understandable. the verse was dope, not exactly verse of the year status but pretty much the first time in years a mainstream artist challenged his peers like that.

however, what's not acceptable, to me, is when after Control dropped, BET decides (or Interscope & BET, who knows) to use Hip Hop Awards just to promote Kendrick. not even TDE, just Kendrick... like, I get he was the biggest rapper in the audience... but their entire show was about Kendrick & his verse. it's like they knew their "award show" was garbage so they decided to use the hype 'Control' created to get more ppl to watch. they kept showing Kendricks reaction during live performances more than anyone else. easily.

then the whole cypher thing... they leaked the 15 second video weeks before, started a hashtag #KendricksVerse days before the show and kept talking about it more than any award categories, live performances or other cyphers. plus for the first time ever they let someone use a beat everyone in the world knows in a cypher


i could keep going but the point is, that when a person who WANTS to see Kendrick win, sees all that, something is wrong. and stuff like that doesnt even help him like it's supposed to anymore .. because people are not THAT stupid. they can see what's going on. only way they couldve been more obvious if they had just said it's not an award show, but a "bet hip hop party featuring Kendrick Lamar" or something like that.

and the sad thing is, Kendrick's cypher verse was good, it didnt need all the extra hype, people wouldve gave him props anyway. now it just looks stupid because ppl callin it the goat bet cypher verse n shyt probably decided it was the goat bet cypher verse after the 15 second clip & bunch of tweets before they saw the cypher
