Might be a worked-shoot. There were reports she was injured at EC. They probably didn't want to risk her not making it to WM, and pulled the strap now to build some alternate story for Mania. If she heals up quicker than expected than she can demand to be slotted into (whatever title match they have cooking) and turn it into another Triple Threat. She could re-gain it in Orlando which would be great in the end.
