Honestly when I decided to resurrect the Official Grammy's thread this year I didn't do it with the thought that "Kendrick had BETTER win AOTY or else" mentality. Don't get me wrong I WANTED him to win no doubt, but we all know Hip Hop isn't very well represented in the so called "Major" Categories. What DID make me happy was the fact that, after several years the Best Rap Album category was televised. That Kendrick used his platform to represent both present day innovation as well as the legendary architects of the genre (Shouting out Snoop and Nas as WELL as their magnum Opus classics which went completely ignored by the academy at the time) that Kendrick put on an Amazing performance. That Kendrick DID win FIVE awards. There was plenty of black excellence on display tonight

at this point.

It's safe to say, Kendrick doesn't need an award to prove his greatness. Still, for me, I can't front, I would've liked for him to win AOTY TPAB was such an amazing album from top to bottom. I really think he'll win one eventually if he keeps putting out this amazing music.
