Welp.... everything in the original post is true, shyt was fukked up but at least the country was thriving. That's not to true today, due to the massive brain drain shyt all kind of fukked up now.

I did a paper on Liberia in college. The country is worse off now than they were when Black Americans were running it. Coups never end well no matter how well intentioned.

Doesn't surprise me. Culture/tribal ties have the tendency to run deeper than general, broad racial ties.

I mean when you think of it, the actual "Country borders" of Africa were created by Europeans, so you pretty much force people who may not rock with each other to be together. At the end of the day, Africans should have put tribal issues aside and mashed on Europeans, but even then Americo Liberians were on that :mjpls: "we aint like y'all" time.

Yea, The war destroyed Liberias infrastructure, they just built a legit hospital in my pops home town, but still it wasn't enough to handle something like Ebola. Treating people wasn't really the issue it was containing it and keeping track of people who had it. One thing I will say is there were many cases of people self treating and actually having success. Liberia probably has one of the most unique dynamics of West Africa, because of its history it probably has the LEAST amount of Self hating blacks, compared to somewhere like Nigeria where people are on that :mjpls:.

Heh, the Mexicans(breeders) of Africa that all other West Afrcians look at like :francis:. Thought I was the only one who observed what you wrote. Always bragging about their success in the west and cant keep consistent electricity for 2 days at home. Used to tease homie a proud Naija boy and MSEE who hardly visited home. I have to check out Liberia based off the jewels in this thread. Ive been to Cameroon(Douala) which I loved despite its reputation. I tend to mesh with Liberians and Ghanians too and generally if I like the people I enjoy the country.

Someone please provide some resources of travel info. Im sure sites like Lonely Planet or Rick Steve will have some CAC bias about Ebola, Malaria, Violence et al.

it was ados ancestors who came in with that elitist mentality. not only raping us of our resources, but looking down on us

btw, @ORDER_66 we're still waiting for our reparation :coffee:

The Americo-Liberians are an indictment on black Americans and are an example of what would happen if black Americans ever gained power.

Many of those Americo-Liberians had ties to colonial black elite families who were the first proponents of the Back to Africa movement. They simply took their American snobberies, that they were practicing against other black Americans, with them.

Which is why I laugh when ADOS makes it seem like these diaspora wars are one-sided against them. Because coming from an upper middle class black family, I know first hand the prejudices middle class black americana had against ‘primitives’ - how my own family referenced Africans and how they went out of their way to distance themselves from and snuff out anything that was remotely African about themselves.
