Ima put it like this
I enjoyed the moment
But if u actually believe daigo didn't throw that match u know nothing bout the FGC and ur mere casual

I don't think he definitively threw the match completely, per say, but that he didn't put his all into it either. There's a difference, if you know what I mean.

If you ain't tryin to win then why try.

Yeah so a small handful of people can watch the video and feel inspired to buy the game please.

he isn't going to throw away his reputation for such small potatoes

He did get his reputation TOOK though.

He tried to use a flashy a style and got merked.

It's like in Brazilian jujitsu trying to win only by one particular move from a particular position and being unable to do so.

If he had played the cheap poke fireball style like that clown @benjamin it would have been boring.

Yea they may be professionals but at the end of the day its a game

Daigo has over 20 years of Street fighter fundamentals under his belt
he couldve beat lupe with nothing but sweeps if he rlly wanted to

And anyone who knows street fighter knows all those matches were thrown
And reputation? :mjlol:
Nikka no one in the FGC is going to even take seriously that loss daigo took to lupe
Maybe a couple of casuals that dont know better but Daigo is of the FGC and is surrounded by those of the FGC
Those are the opinions that matter and those are the opinions that affect his rep
A bunch of casuals seeing this spectacle as a rep damaging thing does not change that

Again the casual mufckaz rlly exposing themselves rii now
Like i said it was a dope moment that I appreciate Daigo and lupe for giving us
But thats where it stops

Ur a good player fam so I alrdy know uve had the experience of playing somebody so baad that you "play to lose" to make it a better show to an audience

I know exactly what you mean (albeit I've rarely been in position to do it for a massive audience, but I get it). Yeah, he (Daigo) made it interesting in that regard and for the duration of the fight, looked to have been mostly in his control . I'm just saying it wasn't rigged per say. I don't think he intentionally LOST, just played easy. He probably was going to try a comeback victory or something, but didn't accomplish that. That happens sometimes too. Also, he was trying to parry a lot, to which I think was also a bit of a showmanship thing and personal challenge rather than just easily block and counter everything.

It's an exhibition and for show and entertainment, which it did provide immensely, but yeah, I wouldn't hold it as some hallmark victory moment and don't think Lupe seriously holds it to that degree either. I think everyone really knows that for the most part. Some folks are pumping it up a lil too hard in either direction tho, when it wasn't really meant to be as such, nahimean.

Can I ask, for those of oyu who say the fight was fixed or thrown, what does Daigo get out of that?

Losing to a rapper off the street seems like it would only hurt your image
This is all promo for SF5

It's a testament to the inclusiveness they're trying to promote to the newer fg players

Have a recognizable face come in and play a legend in the medium. Fun exhibition, and both were essentially in on the joke

Daigo gets nothing from losing to Lupe, on the other hand Daigo beating Lupe 5-0 isn't really a good look either. This was strictly promo

Watching Lupe get washed wouldn't be entertaining to the outsider. Posts in this very thread from nikkas who clearly know nothing about fighting games shows this
