Ross has been making some terrible decisions that are usually fueled by ego...Signing Omarion is straight out of the Death Row "we're so hot we can make MC Hammer a star again" playbook...

Plus he completely wastes time and effort on songs with people like Baby and Diddy who NOBODY young or old want to hear rap at this point...

Looks like they dropped the ball around the same time that G.O.O.D. Music did...

Article has some good points.

MMG folding up wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for guys like Ross, Meek, and Wale. They'll be fine. Collectives in hiphop have sprung up and dissolved over and over again throughout its history.

Like the writer himself said at the start, 'levels' made a cultural impact but wasn't a pop hit, that's more of an indication on what's going on in the culture then on meek or mmg, mmg still runs the hood, but the hood no longer runs the culture.

If you listen to the last couple of interviews that Mmg has done. Meek is pissed, he's wondering what happened to the street rapper.

He is the only young mainstream Street rapper out, you got gbe but they not really mainstream.

Regular nikka rap is at the forefront right now, you need balance.

Wale has a solid fan base he will be fine.

I won't count ross because every time nikkas count him out he comes back strong, I'm sure he will again.

Ross had no hit singles and still managed to go gold.

The problem is Rockie fresh and Stalley might be the most boring nikkas ever, especially Rockie fresh, nikka has no personality.

But you can't single out mmg, when cte, hustle gang, good music, bad boy, are not doing anything either.

Tip got b.o.b, but he won't see as much success as he did with his first album.

Ymcmb has drake nicki Wayne and tyga so they straight.

Yea that shyt is falling off, but so is alot of rappers. These next two years going to be make or break years for MMG, Whiz Khalifa, GOOD Music (this is mainly Kanye fault, he screwed them royally, they're pretty much a sinking ship at this point).

I wonder what crew goin replace....A$AP mob, TDE, or somebody we havent yet heard of

Rick Ross might have the most interesting fall from the top in hip hop history

rappers are going to desert that island in a heartbeat

Lol @ naming Tyga

Hustle gang was never a force, it was TIP and Dro, now it's TIP and BOB, no one ever really fukked with that roster....same for CTE. And Bad Boy? They haven't been hot for real since 2001 :rudy:

But they overlooked MMG playing the BMF, I'm a boss, MC Hammer style beat into the grond, and Ross making the same two songs over and over again as a reason for their decline. You seriously can't keep the charts (nor the ears of folks) on lock with the same sound over and over and over. As for Meek, I feel for dude, he's like Jay Rock and Nipsey to me, dope artists who came along at the wrong time. With the consolidation of radio and weak sales atmosphere, these guys don't have a chance at quantifiable success

damn i said this a long time ago:wow: only so long fake thugs can claim boss status. between Ross being forced to cut that check in front of the world, 50 beating up his best friend and rocking MMG chains and gunplay just being a human L it was only so long b4 the public saw thru the fake thug mafioso fraudulence that Ross been selling dummies..... plus as much money and payola was being spent to market and keep ross/mmg afloat while his credibility was being grinded to dust the labels aint goin to keep doin it without the profit return to backup that type of spending. they expected more than a gold frisbee in GFID they expected platinum or star status and now that its clear shyt aint ever happening MMG is just lame duck status pretty much waiting for the whole ship to go down.the labels aint spending that same money as we all see this time around

I understand what they're saying . But that rivals Pitchfork in terms of OVER analysis .
:snoop:
How are you going to take the idea of "MMG have run their course and struggled to maintain a buzz " into a 2000 word thesis?

I swear the Internet is turning "opinion" into a cancer .
