Yeah but at what cost? Massive pollution, corruption, malaise in the population. We also have to remember that China is a multiethnic state and a lot of the population isn't as united as the gov't would like us to believe. Whether through religion, ethnicity, regionalism, socio economic factors, etc. China is held together by a gov't becoming increasingly strained. In 20 years I predict a huge shift within China and something big will happen there.

There are 1.4 billion Han chinese... the next largest ethnic group are what.. the Zhangs at 16mill? So China is.. but really isn't a multiethnic state


Something big is coming down the line tho. But I wouldn't count China down or out. Hell I think China has a pretty good future

Lol. You guys have to remember that 20 years ago, the average chinese person lived on 20 cents a day and now the chinese have the biggest middleclass in Asia. China has gone through the fastest industrialisation for any nation. In 20 years time, China will have atleast a third of the world wealth. Its impressive what theyve done in such a short amount of time.

They have the biggest middle class by total number (as it's a huge country), not percentage

But I agree that the country has made big improvements despite still having big issues
