They dont HAVE to cheer him you know. Improvement or not if they dont buy into his character then give him one they fukk with. Simple.
I've been complaining about the crowd shytting on him because the reasons for originally booing him - mega push over crowd favorites, below average in the ring, horrible promo and horrible character - are less present every month that goes by.
People - myself included - didn't want him winning the title that early because he wasn't ready and/or because he was seen as the reason Daniel Bryan wasn't getting another WM main event despite being the most over dude on the roster. But Reigns didn't win at Mania and has been booked to stay away of the title picture, exactly what I and many other wanted in the first place. His character still needs work but as gotten a little better, same with promos. But smarks still react to him like he's about to squash CM Punk and Daniel Bryan in 10 seconds for the WWE Title
Of course people can think dude sucks/isn't all that and not like him. But seems to me it's more of a "cool thing/part of the show" type of situation more than legit rejection, considering he doesn't get the same amount of hate every place. shyt, he didn't got nearly the same bad reaction yesterday as he did at Summerslam.
I thought people would come around on him as he keeps improving and having really damn good matches but I was dead wrong. And with the booing becoming more of a thing the crowds does to have fun more than anything else, is gonna take some miracle for it to stop. With Cena it never did because his character never changed and he's a long ass run on top, so it didn't matter how many good matches he had, booing him became cannon. I think that unless Reigns turns or does something that makes the crowd go
(no idea what it could be tbh), the ship on him being universally loved is kinda sailing
And of course the main one to blame is WWE creative. Everyone and their mother knew this was going to happen this time LAST YEAR and they kept on going and fukked him for no real reason
But to me, they've done enough of a decent job not overexposing him since WM 31, and he has improved enough since the Royal Rumble for me to be annoyed that "smarks" didn't give him another chance.
I said it in the thread and I will say it here. If you wanted a smark crowd to start cheering for him you would have had him in the ring selling, getting his ass beat all over the ring, and gave Dean the hot tag. Let Roman get in some offense and everything but have him get shut down. Let Dean come in for the save and get the pin. How you going to sit there and book Roman coming in there doing his Uwaah shyt and scoring the pin in front of a smark crowd then scratch your head when he gets booed. Who am I kidding they probably would have booed him regardless
They probably didn't make him the face in peril because they crowd would've chanted "you can't wrestle" or shyt like that
judging by the reaction he got, there was nothing they could've done to make the crowd cheer him except get busted open, take a beating like he did against Brock and fight back. But they don't book matches like that with anyone except Lesnar.
