So my new job is giving me $500 extra a month for a car. Come in here and tell me what I should cop.

@BLAZO da GAWD just seeing this now. I'd look into the lease. I like the Cayman lately. I've seen some nice examples the last year. The other thing is have you found a cheap garage around your way? Alternate parking is a pain and people don't know how to park so make sure you get a rear bumper protector whether it's garaged or not for when you do street park.

The winters are pretty light here but you're going to need some blizzaks still. Are you used to driving rwd in the winter?

I live on a dead end street essentially. Whatever car I cop, a car cover getting thrown on that bytch every night.

Question: are dealerships more likely to accept lowball offers if I'm paying cash in full? @unit321 @88m3 @Gene E. Yuss

depends on a lot of things and no not really

A few k off here and there and at or below msrp would be considered a success for a popular car.

:yeshrug:

a used car is another ball park entirely

For what you're getting into, no.

You're looking at a nice car, and a newer car. The majority of dealers in that market make money off of financing charges and interest charges. The higher the price of the car, the more they can likely finance you on it, and the more money they make.

They don't want you to buy the car cash, because they make less money that way, so they're likely not going to go for lowball cash offers since they A) Are already losing out on potential finance money B) Are losing out on the higher sale price of the car.

But, lowball them anyway and work up from there, and you will still come out with a deal, because they do want to sell it, and a decent sale is better than no sale.

Say a car was $25k and you say you have $20k in cash, a slick dealer will say "We'll take your cash payment figure and finance you another $2k and bring the sale price down the $22k." He still comes out ahead, because he makes a sale and gets your finance fees/interest, UNLESS you really have $25k in cash, and immediately pay off the $2k balance and pay no interest. I use that example because it is what I did with my G8GT. :ld:

Y'all nikkas are :wow: Appreciate y'all brehs :salute:

Plan:

Getting a used Cayman S with red interior and chrono package. There are only 2 of them available in the country right now. Hopefully there's more by June when I'll be ready to buy, or better yet the 2 that are available now are still available in June. The sellers should be itching to sell by then. These things are going for about $55k-$60k. Hopefully that drops another $5k by June when more and more come off of lease. I plan on putting ~$15k down and financing the rest through a credit union so my APR will be lower. Then try and lowball these dudes. The most I wanna pay total is $50k.

another thing I should have brought up is try to shoot for the last week or third week of the month when dealers are under pressure to hit quotas

:salute: on the whip

Was at the dealership a week ago, debating between a Mercedes and a Stingray. Dude at Chevy was throwing everything at me to leave with one, I was ready to walk out then he hit me with the lease options. I was :lupe:
Don't know too much about leasing so I'm doing my research. The costs were wayyy more reasonable to lease than own. Especially since I'd keep my current whip.

Do you tho breh, you only have 1 life to live.

I commend you on not jumping into any decisions without doing research, salesman hate when someone's willing to leave and do some research

Right on...got a friend who used to sale cars. I'm gonna meet up with him next week. In the meantime, I'm literally at Audi as o type. This 2016 A5 is dope, and I have a thing for Red, don't know why.
