He has every year other than his rookie year...
When it comes to Nerlens, and even John Wall before this year's playoff run it's become apparent thecoli is really lazy with labels.
Nerlens had a freak ACL injury in college. It happens. He's not a guy like Jabari who's had at least 2 ACL injuries. Really he's only been injured in college and elected to take a surgery last offseason because Colangelo wouldn't allow him during the tail end of the 2016 season. Noel could've played in the last two months of the 2013 season
but Hinkie held him out, like he did for every player during the process. I don't think it's fair to say he's injury prone when he's played more games than guys like Jabari Parker or AD through his first couple years.
He's played 75 games in his rookie season and 67 in his sophmore season while having niggling injuries. And during those seasons he literally put up historic defensive stats that only belong to top tier hall of fame players. In his rookie season he singledhandedly pushed the sixers from worst defensive rating to middle of the pack. He did that with no help on defense because as we know by coach Brown's losing percentage,
the process is built on losses and as many draft picks as possible.
The best point guard he's played with, before the mavs is, Ish Smith. And watching Noel play shows an awareness on the court that gets him a dunk every other quarter. His hands while not not great, are improving, but he's still an average rebounder.
Then his jump shot isn't dead. He spent the first year building up his jump shot from scratch and it's finally showing results. He improved his shooting from 3-10 ft from 30% to 52% and 16 fit to 3pt line at 23% to 38%.
All while having a per 36 line of 15.3/10/2/2.2/1.7.
I don't think it's crazy to believe he can get that up to 16-17ppg in 33-34 minutes if he really improves his shooting.
