The best athletes in the world, playing in my oppinion the most cerebral and beautiful game... i mean sure its preference... but at worst you get the opportunity to watch the eventual greatest player of all time every second day... that aint too shabby.

Ehh...it's almost getting too cliche to say NBA Countdown is terrible. It's not as bad as last yr & it will never be on the level of Inside the NBA. Once you get that outta the way, I think it's ok to say the show is decent now. Not must see, but I'm not gonna change the channel when it comes on

They're still too buttoned up & force feed too many segments for it to be a great pregame show, but it's ok

man honestly doug collins was a great player... pretty good color commentator but this panel shyt aint built for him... it would be funny if sage was constantly knocking bill and jalen for goofing off but doug is like having your dad at the table... a remark like jalen just made is lightwork compared to the stuff kenny and charles say.

Totally agree with this. It's not Inside the NBA, but at least it's watchable now. I actually switched from Nets/Bulls to NBA Countdown.

What's bogging down the show is the force-feeding of segments like you said, but that's ESPN's style. They're not gonna let analysts freelance like on TNT. Simmons also has to stop trying to get a word every time after Doug or Jalen say something.

But they have something to build on. There's a semblance of chemistry and structure that was never there when Magic Johnson and Wilbon were around. It's okay to not bring as many laughs as ITN, as long as you tell me something I didn't already know. That's happening now.

BTW their new intro is MAD cheesy. Jalen and Bill walking with explosions going on in the background.

It needs someone like SVP to be the host. Legler would have been a better choice than Collins too

fukk no. Do you people watch TV pregame shows? Hosts throw out the topics and keep order. That was the big problem with Countdown last season; nobody was there to reign it in. That, and Magic Johnson is the most useless analyst on television. Even worse than Shaq. Only reason why so many people miss him is because he's such a likable guy, but not once in the history of the show did he ever say anything informative (or funny).

Anyway, I actually like Sage Steele She seems like she's excited to be there. But for some reason, the chemistry just doesnt flow with the rest of them. Doug Collins is out of place and Bill Simmons seems to be as well

I think Sage Steele makes a difference. She keeps them on topic, brings enthusiasm, and says silly stuff so its not so serious. They could use Greg Anthony or Dennis Scott instead of Doug Collins.

Dude in a vacuum, Magic might not be the best comentator, I agree..... but it's MAGIC fukkIN JOHNSON....

A top TWO (you already know who's #1) legend in this HISTORY of the whole fukkin sport.....


I don't care if he sits on the panel and don't say a word..... It just feels right watching the show with a player of his caliber on there.


There is ZERO chemistry with this current crew.... At least Magic brought the entusiasm and excitement...

For a reason. Stu Scott is terrible. He was cool when we were growing up in the 90s; now that we're adults, he's unbearable.

I like Jon Barry too and think Legs is their best NBA guy. ESPN's biggest problem is they have nobody like Ernie Johnson. He's actually the key to the TNT crew being so good.

Honestly they just need to switch out Jeff Van Gundy and Doug Collins.

Collins is great as an analyst but he's meant to be seen and not heard. He has no charisma or energy. Meanwhile JVG has both the knowledge and the energy. He's the one who should be in front of the camera.

But yea all in all the nba season sucks this year. Someone said it earlier in this thread but it's true the studio show really has nothing to talk about. These games don't mean anything.
