went through a Cs team that lost Larry Bird to injury in the first round

Bucks had significant injuries(at least 4, they were short-manned) in the next round

Scottie Pippen bytches up in the conference finals

but most importantly, they beat a Lakers team in the finals that only had Magic for game 1(hammy) and didn't have Byron Scott at ALL

:yeshrug:
Ok, its still not on the level of fortunate breaks that was the Warriors' postseason last year. The Pistons were some bad boys, literally and figuatively. They were already one of the best teams in the league for a couple seasons before that, can't say the same for GS who basically just came out of nowhere. They had just gone to the finals the previous season and were a single point from winning it all in 88, and almost certainly would have had Isiah not himself gotten injured that yr in gm 6. So when the tables were turned and they got a fortunate path, they took full advantage of it and were dominant, losing only 2 games to Chicago the entire playoff run and sweeping everyone else. They werent out there getting pushed to the brink and going 6 against YMCA players like the Warriors did.

Most importantly, they proved 89 wasnt a fluke when they came back and won it again the next year. That's what Golden State is gonna have to do as well if they want to silence the critics.
