This is why the EU should have stayed canon in hindsight… in that continuity Luke Skywalker got married, rebuilt the Jedi order, and massively restructured everything. In his order, Jedi could still marry, have families, etc.

For me it’s Episodes 1-6, Clone Wars, and the EU.

Although I’m still getting into the EU at the moment (recently finished Shadows of the Empire), the best stories in that continuity seem to be more consistently engaging and put more respect on the characters than anything Disney is doing.

Anything Disney is fanfiction to me. Some of it is REALLY good fanfic (Mandalorian S1 and 2), but it’s still “What If?” status to me.

A Jedi can only have one apprentice at a time, but there are hundreds of Jedi led by a council.

A Sith Master is 1 of 1, his apprentice is (officially) 1 of 1. Secret apprentices are taken on to weed out weakness through deathly competition, or undermine the sitting master to help the official apprentice push the cycle forward.

Episode 7 was Episode 4 rehashed. Episode 8's biggest flaw was character depth but it gets entirely too much hate. Didn't watch 9 because it was Episode 6 rehashed.

You have to realize the move Disney made with declaring the EU non-canon. They don't have to pay any of those writers for their ideas going forward...but they still own the EU and can freely steal those ideas, rework them as something slightly different, repurposing them as "new" content. They learned big time from their Marvel purchase and got out in front of things when drawing up the Lucasfilm deal.
