Raw did something of an amazing 4.86 million viewers on Monday night and the big story was the ratings pattern.

8 p.m. 5.25 million

9 p.m. 5.00 million

10 p.m. 4.36 million

The story is the huge open and the huge drop during the show. The big thing hyped, for weeks, was the return of Batista. If anyone tries to attrbute the rating to anything but that, they are fooling themselves. Without quarters, it's hard to know exactly where the fall-off was, but it was huge. It would appear bringing Batista out early likely caused a lot of viewers to tune out. Just as obvious. there was not that much interest in the show-long waiting for John Cena to confront Randy Orton storyline.

Batista at his hottest was getting outdrawn by Rey and Eddie in 2005...he was given international due by Metlzer in like 2008 or something. That's about it.

Rey and Eddie never outdrrew any real main event guys in their time. I am talking Cena, Lesnar or Batista.

I don't even like Batista like that either, just facts and numbers.

I have no doubt that Bautista was a huge part for that rating. BUT, there's also no doubt in my mind that if Cena had closed RAW like D-Bry did last week, he would also be included as a reason for the high rating :cena: :manny:

That pattern makes a lot of sense too. The only 2 things to look forward about RAW was Bautista's return and the follow up to DB, and that was done in the first 40 minutes

They did in 2005. Batista came to Smackdown and got pushed to the back every week all year...and he damn sure didn't get bigger ratings than Eddie on Smackdown that year.*Filed 9 years ago*

LOL. Don't be trying to toss Batista's name in that mix. You can give him certain credit for WM 21 but that was Eddie/Rey, Taker, and Batista. Hogan and Austin were promoted for that too.

Just looked it up, the final hour of Rock's return last January to face off with Punk was 4.65 million viewers. It was going against the BCS championship game, which was a blowout by the 10PM final hour.

Batista did GOAT B PPV numbers post attitude era for the HIAC with HHH. Fans might've given Rey/Eddie more universal love but they weren't paying money for them like they were Batista in 05.

Batista wasn't selling out arenas and wasn't moving the needle on shyt. When did Backlash and Vengenance have these history making numbers? No one has brought that shyt up ever. The things that were successful in 2005 were WM 21, Summerslam, I think Rumble did well too, and One Night Stand.

Yes he did, they were much higher, look them up instead of just talking out of your ass. Why do you always start these arguments with people, have no proof and then continue to post nonsense. And again, I am a MUCH bigger fan of Eddie's then gayass Batista.

Batista wasn't selling out arenas and wasn't moving the needle on shyt. Wh.
Batista's PPVs and house show gates as champs were MUCH higher than Eddie's.

Backlash did decently, Vengeance did very well, 420k. Post 2001, there are only 2 B PPVs that did better: No Way Out 02 and 03 with NWO and Austin returns and more of the attitude era holdover audience.
