i had the same thoughts before watching the video. but the breh is joyful and wanted to share his joy, and as brehs, we should be first and foremost sharing in that with him because no one else has our backs.

the coli has been enlightening for me because it has shown me that a lot of brehs come from some really HARD backgrounds. backgrounds that are just devasting generationally. i hope the breh @murksiderock don't mind me mentioning a post he did on here where he described his family upbringing - if I recall, he has thirteen siblings (or something around that number) and I think not two of the thirteen siblings share the same two parents. my jaw dropped.

it's very difficult to recover from that type of background. for one, the values of having a strong in-tact family unit and a high priority on education will just not be there because they are middle class values. so to expect anyone from that type of background to just suddenly adopt those values with all the other dysfunctional things going on in their lives is a hard ask.

breh is joyful of his accomplishment. let's be joyful with him and in the fact that, he will now go on to press his own sons to get into trade school or higher education, at least leveling up the next generation of his family from out of the streets.
I don't mind it, I've shared it myself. And yes it's dumb hard to overcome generational dysfunction, you find yourself in your 30s still trying to break the cycle...

And yeah I have 13 siblings, 6 from my mom (two sisters and 4 brothers, but one of my sisters was born as my brother so there's that); and 7 with my dad (1 brother and 6 sisters)...

Of my mom's kids:

•brother #1 born April 17, 1988; has his own father
•me (June 4, 1989); separate father
•brother #2 (August 17, 1990); separate father
•brother #3 (February 28, 1993); separate father
•brother #4 (July 25, 1994) & brother #5/Trans sister (August 11, 1998) have the same father
•sister (January 1, 2009); separate father

My mom has 7 kids and 6 baby daddies...

My dad's kid's:

•me; separate mother
•sister (April 18, 1992) & my only brother on dad's side (January 18, 1996) have the same mother
sister #2 (August 31, 1996); sister #4 (October 2, 1999); & sister #5 (January 25, 2003) all have the same mother
•sister #3 (September 28, 1996); seperate mother
•*sister #6* (March 12, 2011); separate mother

*sister #6 has a younger brother (born in '15 after her mom and my dad broke up) from her mom, who may potentially be my dad's son. But my sister and her brother are living with their mom's family, their mom is dead, and my dad is in prison, so he won't be able to get the DNA test until he gets out...

So my dad has 8 kids (potentially 9) and 5 baby momma's...

There's so many interwoven threads of dysfunction that come from this alone. So you're 100% accurate how tough this shyt is to overcome!

Congrats to the brother. You can make a solid living as a barber if you work the needed hours consistently and build your clientele.
Can get it coming in hand over fist if you own a spot that's known for quality cuts, decent parking n no shenanigans.

Five full n booked chairs means you eating heavy regardless.

I'd def setup a shop if I had the dough, n I don't even cut.

My heart did lift cause his energy legit reminds me of one of my day ones, and breh comes from a background that was supposed to fail.

Oldest boy of like 7 kids, mom's was a severe drug addiction, had 4 baby daddy's.

Was on assistance, she never held a job.

Lost custody, state took them, distant but local fam stepped up in took them in but he picked up demons from what he was exposed to.

I mentioned on here that at one point a couple years ago, he was homeless.

All I ever wanted was for my brother to thrive, and the blessings of God he is now, living well in peace and contentment.

And I see my boy in dude, so yeah I'm not crying but my chest did tighten up.
