Wearing Lions gear when it wasn't cool
This happens in a lot of industries though. Budgeting and not fully understanding the vision is what causes this.
Neither Drake nor Game were guranteed stars, neither are most acts seeking deals nor most acts that actually end up getting signed...the majority of artists that sign record deals don't release an album, and even fewer still actually turn a profit for a label...which means they're gonna have to pass on most people that come their wayThat's still Russell or Lyor....I'm still referring to one person. Game and Drake both called specifically her out not Motown. Every other situation known the artist would just name the label...etc. that's why I made this thread because she seems like the first individual to tell these future stars it's not gonna work.
Drake actually around Comeback Season was still the hottest underground rap act aroundDrake was not a multi platinum star he was a corny lookin, ultra soft, jewishnkid
from Canada. Most of these rappers/artists have been passed on Jay was passed on for years, Ye, Eminem all these people.
she should be fired. Drake was an easy one to pick out.
if that's not a reason to fire her then how do we measure her job performance? just curious
I think interscope turned him down too. They saw him as a songwriter more than an artist. Makes sense too, when you think about it. Around that time rap was going thru a transition and Drake was more awkward then he is now. While his music may have been good, people thought he didn't have the personality or charisma of a star.
The Wayne cosign helped A LOT!!! Especially since he was the hottest rapper out. Don't matter how hot Drake was in the underground, commercial success it completely different. People didnt think Drake would would cross over commercially like he did.
In the end, you create your own luck, you just have to be ready when the opportunity comes. Drake took it and ran. Respect to that dude.
