Yea....my grandmother's grandmother was a slave.

My grandmother would tell me stories about her. She was the daughter of the slave owner and a female slave, honey colored skin, hair down to her back. My grandmom said she would always sing to her when she was little. Made slavery seem alot more real and more recent than white people try to make it.

Same here, I have a great grandmother and great grandfather who were born slaves. Just seeing it in that light further let me realize how recent slavery ended. That's why I try not to say "ancestors" when discussing slavery. It allows certain people to paint the picture that this happened so long ago.
