I dunno bout that one man. Even within the realm of wrestling strictly prime for prime, match for match, promo for promo. Michaels belongs in a seat behind Savage. That's no knock. I actually like Shawn

-P-

Cosign. I have no problem with Michaels and think very highly of him in the ring but I can't see logically placing HBK over Macho in any way. At BEST you could argue that he is on the same level.

Macho was only second to Hogan and legit in every sense of the word. Michaels headed one of the worst times in the industry.

shawn's true prime was from wrestlemania 10 with that ladder match until he fukked up his back on the casket at RR98..thats only 4 years..i also don't recall him when out of prime carrying a lesser wrestler to near classic-classic matches like savage did with warrior and later on ddp

Nash at Good Friend Better Enemies in June of 96 and to a lesser extent WM11. Also the run with Sid at Survivor Series 96 and the Rumble in 97. And after his back injury Taker at WM25 and 26. Not a knock on Taker who at one point could carry his load against anyone. But at 25 and 26 HBK clearly carried a broken down Taker in those matches. Just look at how bad Taker/HHH was at WM27. Bash HHH all you want but those were two guys at one point could carry their weight in the ring. In their flabby and sick state the match sucked.

Also HBK has more memorable moments and classic matches than Savage easily.

People forget HBK gave Mankind a classic

Macho was great, but Hulk was the real deal, it wasn't Macho he was just second banana

He was in Spider Man...had cartoons..was on ice cream bars. He's a true icon of the wrestling industry.

Shawn Michaels won the Royal Rumble in 1995 and he came out to NO REACTION and got no reaction the WHOLE fukking match. Kind of embarrassing. That never happened with Macho Man.

When did Macho have a cartoon?

And the ice cream bars? It was the WWF bars- Magnificent Muraco had one too... that doesn't count. :pachaha:

That said, I'd put Michaels and Savage in the same category. I will say Savage is probably much more recognizable, but he was ""Mr. WrestleMania" before Michaels. He was the one who was always counted on for the great Mania match, and he delivered that most of the time. It never seemed like they gave him the ball to run with tho'. Even when he got the title, Savage was never given a shot to headline anything on his own. He def. deserved it though, just had the misfortune of being around in the era of Hogan, where everybody was second fiddle. Only Warrior got that true chance to be #1, and well... guess you can say it happened to the wrong guy.

Giving Warrior Warrior a classic trumps Mankind. HHH/Rock got a couple of classics out of Foley well after that and neither are as good as Michaels in the ring.

No reason not to have both on tier 2 when it comes to all time legacies (especially if we are just talking about careers in the E), but Michaels shouldn't be above him...

:rudy:, Steamboat match at WM 3, winning the title in the tournament at WM 4, Mega Powers break up and WM 5 match vs Hogan. Retirement Match vs Warrior and reuniting with Liz at WM 7. Love triangle between Flair and Liz at WM 8. HBK most memorable moments are the Ladder Match, Iron Man Match, Screwjob, Comeback Match, Flair Retirement match, and those Undertaker WrestleMania matches. Those moments don't top the Savage moments I listed from the sheer fact that regular people on the street would mention those moments, not sure if most regular folk even know HBK's history like that.

Shawn Michaels didn't do it for the longest time. He was a tag team bumper until his 1992 single's push. Had no good standout matches except for the decent on with Bret a Survivor Series and the Razor Ladder matches. In 1996, most of that shyt he did was forgettable and had to be brought in revisionist history because NOBODY talked about it or dwelled on it at the time, unlike with Savage. When he had the classic with Flair at WM 8, it was singed in our memories. When he did the match that made a guy like Michaels want to become what he did at WM 3, it was the blueprint for great wrestling and selling. The great Mega Powers storyline build and match which was a Macho carryjob. The legendary storyline with Jake Roberts and the Ultimate Warrior. Michaels had to come back in 2002 to add to what he was because his career up until 1998 was about forfeiting titles, losing smiles, and having forgotten performances with half talents.

Michaels had MOTY with Jannety in 93 and good matches with perfect also. In 95-96 he was have 4 to 5 star matches the likes of Nash and Foley. So to say he was nothingt before his comback in 02 Is false. Everything you said about Savage is dead on and true. We are saying that HBK has done it for longer and deserves higher ranking. And to the chump Stan sneak dissing, I see that grade A undiluted ether still burns slow.

God dammit man, you dudes just had to derail the thread with this bullshyt about who belongs higher. Can we please get back to shytting on HHH like we all came in this thread to see? That should be our common goal.

The cream always rises to the top :obama:

HHH doesn't even deserve to headline his own thread :russ:

He will always be HBK's bag boy to TSC

damn i go to sleep, wake up and see that this thread is about macho and hbk :russ:

as far as the tier of stars goes, i would alter it a bit

1. Hogan 2. Rock 3. Austin

4. Flair 5. Macho 6. Undertaker

7. HBK 8. Bret 9. Sting

10. HHH 11. Jericho 12. Goldberg/Hall

could see some changes here and there though, didnt really analyze all too deeply

Good grouping. This is how my list would look. Each group is evenly matched except for 10-12. Jericho is on the Eddie/Benoit/Angle tier and Goldberg is on the Warrior Warrior tier wherever those tiers may be...
